What Romney Really Means

Deciphering the Republican Code

Jose Sueiro

I’m always confused when I listen to Republican candidate Mitt Romney. His use of language and the words he speaks seem to have a different meaning for him than they do for me. It appears as if these words are some sort of code that followers and those who share the code immediately identify. However, I’m left with the question, “What does he really mean?” At no time was this clearer to me than during the first debate between Romney and President Obama on Wednesday, October 3, 2012.

Mitt; ‘El Mexicano’

Romney’s Perception of Hispanics is Backward & Prejudicial

Jorge E. Ponce
Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney joked at a fundraiser on September 17, 2012, that he would have a better chance of winning the election if his father would not just have been born in Mexico, but had actually been Latino. He expanded his statement by saying that his dad “was born in Mexico… and had he been born of Mexican parents, I’d have a better shot at winning this” – meaning the 2012 presidential election.

The Growing Influence

of DC’s Latino Community

What’s happening to black leadership and in particular the Mayor of the District of Columbia is a tragedy of historic proportions. Never before has the city faced such pervasive investigations into the very nature of leadership in the city. The African American community has been devastated and decimated by accusations of corruption throughout city government and many residents of the District wonder if this will not provoke an angry, intrusive and partisan Congress to intervene on a larger scale in the life of the city. Add to this the reporting on census figures that show the District has lost its African American majority for the first time in over 40 years and you have a city undergoing enormous changes and questions about its future.

Abysmal Response from Republicans

on Immigration and Health Care Obama Gains the High Ground

The graphic you see with this note is the latest Spanish language segment I do weekly on Telemundo News every Wednesday night. It’s a two minute segment where I appear with a very polite gentleman, Israel Ortega, from the Heritage Foundation. He defends the ‘conservative’ point of view and I posit the ‘left’ or democratic argument. These past two weeks we’ve discussed the recent Supreme Court decisions on Arizona’s SB 1070 and the health care ruling. If you go to this link:> on the Holaciudad <website you can view them both.
