International City Fair

Food & Artisan’s Fair @ 3503 14th N.W., Washington DC

International City Fair
A group of vendors in the District of Columbia are organizing an outdoor market to provide raw and prepared foods, clothing and crafts from local artisans in the Columbia Heights neighborhood of Washington DC.

The International City Fair (ICF) is located at 3503 14th St. N.W. on what was once a parking lot for Pan Am Market. On this site a dozen vendors sell their wares from early morning until nightfall (7:30 am – 6:30 pm) six days a week (Tuesdays thru Sundays) beginning on November 18th, 2011. Food stands feature typical foods from El Salvador, Mexico, Peru, Argentina and the Caribbean. Artisans offer outerwear garments, specialty items and typical crafts. Once established, ICF will expand to include a greater variety of offerings. The objective is to provide healthy, economical food choices with fresh ingredients for a variety of tastes and an attractive, open air street fair for visitors and residents in the heart of the District.

ICF is a private, commercial venture. Its plan is to increase opportunities and jobs for local residents and create integrated, sustainable networks of food production and distribution. The objective is to professionalize micro-entrepreneurs and create small businesses in the District of Columbia. All vendors at the International City Fair have business licenses, health certification and the financial requirements necessary to run a small business in DC.

International City Fair is administered by the non-profit organization, “Spark Inc.; igniting the entrepreneurial spirit”, through its founder and CEO, Jose Sueiro. The market is administered in collaboration with the University of the District of Columbia’s Cooperative Extension Program.
