Metrodiversity on Fox and more…

The community is our motivation...

It was quite a week for this author! On Wednesday evening I appeared in the fourth edition of an ongoing weekly news segment for the local Telemundo newscast which you can view here. This week’s version was a debate over the Lilly Ledbetter law requiring equal pay for equal work. My friend Israel Ortega, on the right, argued that there are already too many laws on the books and payroll parity needs no more protection. Unfortunately, these are the orthodox Republican talking points which make little sense and infuriate women –and obviously Latina women suffer exponentially greater pay discrimination than their sisters in the general population.

Also a 30 second Fox news promo was completed and is about to air on Fox stations throughout the area. It can be seen here, this brief news promotion for the station features Julie Egermayer of Violet Boutique and yours truly hosting a walkthrough of the fabulous Adams Morgan neighborhood. Special thanks to the producer Brad Crum who did a fabulous job with an enormous amount of material. Adams Morgan is truly a fascinating (and at times frustrating) place, but I wouldn’t live any place else!

Then our good friends at Univision tracked me down to do a story about the proposed extension of bar and liquor store hours. This you can see here. There is some question as to whether these new alcohol rules will pass City Council, but what is certain is that they have raised a great many questions and a fair amount of controversy.

We are now working on repeating two stories previously published on these pages. The first is regarding the Alexandria City Council candidate’s forum. Originally scheduled for April 24th it has been moved to May 12. We will also be rewriting our 2GeninDC story about the history of Spanish Speaking Washington at the National Museum of American History. The date, Sunday, May 13 at 2 pm in the Warner Theatre at the NMAH is unchanged, but new journalists participating in this roundtable have been added, more on that shortly.
